Ramsey delighted after win leaves Wales on edge of history
Aaron Ramsey may or may not have picked up the Man of the Match award for his country as they defeated Cyprus 1-0 on Thursday night according to reports on Twitter.
Of course, depending on where else you looked you could also
find Gareth Bale [ESPN, who only gave Ramsey a 6] and Ashley Williams [BBCwho also gave Ramsey a 6, Daily Mail picked Williams as well and gave Ramsey a 5.5] picked out as the MOTM, but we prefer to believe it was Ramsey and having read over the reports and minute-by-minutes from various outlets, see no reason to change that assertion.
The game was won by a Gareth Bale header in the 82nd minute after Wales had a goal disallowed in the first half, and the victory which now leaves them on the brink of qualification for their first major tournament in 57 years.
They now only need a win over Israel on Sunday in Cardiff to seal their place.Often overshadowed by the hype that surrounds Gareth Bale (in the lead up to the gameWales Online referred to the team as ‘Bale and co’ as if Ramsey is some irrelevancy and not a world class player in his own right), it’s great to see Ramsey get some recognition for the performances he puts in for his country.
Ramsey was heavily involved with most of what Wales did on the night and he combined with Ashley Richards before the defender crossed to find the jumping Bale to score the only goal of the game.
